The Thing in the Spring presents Shaina Gates and Anna Von Mertens, two New Hampshire-based artists with national acclaim. Gates and Von Mertens use carefully rendered drawings to examine and subvert language in our contemporary environment. Gates makes graphite drawings of text collage, torn, pasted, and folded to reveal new meanings, while Von Mertens grapples with the world of emojis and their implications when words are stripped away.
The opening reception is June 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The exhibit will be on view through June 16.
The reception and will take place at the Sharon Arts Center Exhibition Gallery.
